FreedomBox is a personal server that protects your privacy. It hosts on demand applications such as file sharing, shared calendaring, instant messaging, secure voice conference calling, blog and wiki. FreedomBox is a free software stack, a subset of the Debian universal operating system, that can be installed in many flavors of inexpensive and power-efficient hardware. The simplicity of setting up and operating a FreedomBox is similar to that of a smart phone.

In order to add a function to FreedomBox, one has to create a Debian package, plus a module web page inside the "Plinth" admin user interface. The number of functions of FreedomBox is steadily growing. The latest version of FreedomBox is 0.8.

In Vienna, we have a build server for experimental FreedomBox packages that are not yet part of the "official" FreedomBox:

These experimental packages include:
- "node-restore" for Unhosted applications
- "known" personal blogging service
- "gold" Linked Data server
- Other ideas?

We would like to spend some time to work more on these packages and if possible incorporate them into the "official" FreedomBox stack and Debian repository! Please come and help if interested.
