The exploration of bringing the Extended Base Global Address Space (xBGAS) Runtime to CHERI-enabled ARM Morello platforms presents a novel intersection of capabilities-based security and the conveniences of a global address space programming model. This poster details our work retrofitting the xBGAS Runtime for compatibility with CHERI's hardware-enforced bounds and capabilities, ensuring seamless yet secure access to the extended memory spaces. Central to our approach is the transition from platform-specific mechanisms to a more universally applicable threading model. We harness the power of pthreads combined with advanced thread pooling techniques, providing an architecture-independent foundation for simulating the runtime library. This transformation facilitates xBGAS's integration with Morello and o]ers scalability advantages, potentially benefiting a broader range of platforms. Preliminary evaluations indicate performance gains and potential reductions in the overhead typically associated with such cross-platform adaptions. Our work lays the groundwork for future research in hybrid memory systems on capability hardware and offers a blueprint to diverse architectures.
