This presentation reports on how we are operationalising the Government’s desire to build stronger ties between Australia and Asia. Built around an online collaborative social media tool, eTutor connects Australian pre-service teachers and primary students with junior secondary students in Nepal, India and Malaysia. eTutor provides opportunities for: • pre-service teachers to experience intercultural and online teaching environments • learning about our own and other’s cultures. • improving English skills This presentation focuses on the pedagogical and practical challenges faced in creating an inclusive and engaging online learning environment and outlines the rewards of such an online collaborative learning project for all stakeholders.
