Is your application running slow? Have performance issues got you down? Do you suspect yet another Linux kernel performance bug is the cause of all your problems? The increasing complexity of hardware and software is making it more difficult to understand the cause of performance issues. This presentation will look at the tools and techniques for analysing performance issues on Linux. Real world examples of userspace, kernel and hardware issues will be analysed. Along the way, things that can wreak havoc with performance analysis such as just in time compilation, interpreted languages, virtualisation and cloud environments will be addressed.
