Description:	In 2017, NVIDIA released their formerly-proprietary "NVDLA" deep learning accelerator IP as open source hardware. The process of transitioning from a closed IP model, backed by all the tooling available at a large company, to a community-available IP with the intent of being built "outside the walls" of NVIDIA, was unsurprisingly challenging, and the logistics of packaging hardware up for outside distribution modification was more difficult than we had originally anticipated. In this discussion, I will talk some about things that went well, and things that I wish we had been prepared for at the start; additionally, I'll provide some tips and tricks for other organizations that may be interested in releasing their own IP as open source. markdown
